We’re getting ready to embark on our first unit study of the school year- From Farm to Table!

In preparation for this study we visited a local U-Pick farm, and we’ve been harvesting from our own garden. Here in Alaska we’ve been blessed with an extended season this year. Often we’ve had our first frost by now. Because we live in a remote state much of our food travels a long distance to reach us- often spending a week on a truck or much longer on a barge. Let’s just say much of the produce we buy in the store leaves a lot to be desired! Because of that we love to harvest and grow what we can locally. We have a fairly short growing season and some challenges to contend with, but many plants do thrive with our extended daylight hours.
Turning some of these experiences and lessons into a unit study seemed to be a clearly open door! I love to teach our kids through doing…and this time of year we are doing a lot of harvesting.
Of course, our Farm to Table Unit Study can be done anytime of the year, but it’s an especially great choice for fall!
I thought I would share a few ideas for how I organize our unit studies, and ways we’re displaying our verses and pages this year.
Since I’m a mom of 4 I’m currently teaching “round 1” of our kids. :)
I like to organize our unit studies with the hope that we will use them again for our younger kids. Inexpensive folders have been my go to! They’re not fancy, but they work great for storing all of the unit studies. When we go to use them a second time I will need to print more worksheets, but much of the teaching information is ready to be re-used.

This year I purchased a display board for our unit verses (Found in That It May Go Well Curriculum) and we’re also using it for our unit study verse. This has been really helpful for copy work/penmanship!

Our From Farm to Table Unit Study is completely free to download. It’s Biblically sound, just like That It May Go Well, and can used over the course of a week or whatever fits for your family!
As always, we hope this resource is a blessing to your family and equips you to raise arrows for God’s kingdom!
In Christ,
Meghann Lipse
