Total Time:
20-21 waffles
Yeild:
Ingredients:
2 sticks of softened butter, or oil for an easier busy-day option
8 eggs
5 cups water
6 cups all-purpose mix
Optional: 1–2 cups oats + a bit of extra water
Optional: cinnamon, vanilla, or sweetener
Instructions:
Preheat your waffle iron.
Add softened butter and eggs to a mixer bowl. Mix until combined.
Add 4 cups of water and mix again.
Add 6 cups of all-purpose mix and stir until combined.
Add 1 more cup of water and mix until you have a pourable waffle batter.
If using oats, stir in 1–2 cups. Add about 1/2 cup of additional water for every 1 cup of oats.
Grease your waffle iron if needed.
Use a ladle to scoop batter into the waffle iron.
Close the waffle iron and cook until golden.
Repeat until the batter is gone.
Notes:
These waffles freeze beautifully and are wonderful to keep on hand for busy mornings.
Butter can be replaced with oil if you need an easier option and do not want to soften butter.
You can add cinnamon, vanilla, or a sweetener, but we often keep them basic.
If using a Cuisinart-style waffle maker, start around the middle setting. As the waffle iron gets hotter, turn it down slightly if the waffles start getting too dark.
While the waffles cook, you will need to stay nearby, but you will not be actively working the whole time. This is a great window to empty the dishwasher, bake sourdough, tidy the kitchen, or work on another simple kitchen task.
